Norchestra - Live in Tysvær 2001 - 10 års jubileums EP
Endelig er 10-års jubileums EP-en vår her, den ble gjort tilgjengelig for nedlastning i går, onsdag 3. august, nøyaktig 10 år etter at vi gjorde vår første konsert under eget navn i Tysværtunet konsertsal fredag 3. august 2001! Vi er stolte av å vise fram noe av det spennende som skjedde i bandets utvikling helt i begynnelsen, da vårt spesielle sound og miks av klassisk musikk og energisk improvisasjon / spontan lek ble født.
Vi håper at dere vil sjekke ut dette live-opptaket som kan lastes ned fra Itunes eller høres direkte fra den norske streaming-tjenesten Wimp. 5 låter med varighet ca 42 minutt, koster kun 35 kr på Itunes!
Ellers en stor takk til Erling Sande som tok opp konserten med sin harddiskrecorder, og som virkelig klarte å få fram både konsertsalens glimrende akustikk, samt fin og naturlig akustisk lyd fra det flotte Steinway & Sons flygelet i Tysvær. Trommelyden er også fantastisk, basslyden kommer også godt fram.
EP-en består av 4 pianokomposisjoner hovedsakelig signert Lundberg, samt et studioopptak av en av de første klassisk gitarlåtene i Norchestra, nemlig String Meditation. (String Meditation ble opprinnelig tatt opp under konserten, men kun siste halvdel av låten pga tekniske problemer.)
Her finner vi også en spennende versjon av Moon and Sun, Clouds and Wind, der spesielt siste halvdel og ut er virkelig bra!

Suite for the Seagulls en stor suksess!
Noen av dere har sikkert fått med seg at vi gjorde et svært bestillingsverk støttet av norsk kulturråd til årets Sildajazz i 2010. Vi var alle utrolig glade og svært lettet etter konserten, og utrolige glade for vanvittig mange positive og inspirerende tilbakemeldinger fra et entusiastisk publikum! Vi håper på å få til en cd-utgivelse med verket til neste år, så da blir det forhåpentligvis mulighet å se "Suite for the Seagulls" både i Italia og i Norge til neste år!
Samarbeidet med Gnu Quartet fungerte utrolig bra, og vi håper på å få på plass et plateselskap for dette samarbeidet snarest mulig! Stay tuned, vi lover å oppdatere denne websiden litt oftere nå det kommende året, ettersom 2-3 plater er på vei ut i løpet av de neste 2 årene blir det nok litt mer fortgang i nyhetsoppdateringene også her på websiden vår.

New 8-string Brahms-guitar to reinforce Norchestras sound!
I was in London this weekend to pick up my new handmade 8-string Brahms guitar!
The guitar is made by Martin G. Woodhouse, a luthier that lives in Cambridge. I can already now tell you that it is truly a remarkable instrument! With expanded range almost like a piano and really subtle and delicate sound it will without doubt be another enriching colour to the already colourful palette of Norchestra! We are currently working with our next cd to be released this autumn, and hopefully some of the compositions on this recording will be featuring my new 8-string Brahms guitar.
If you are curious to listen this instrument check out some of Paul Galbraith's recordings. Especially the recording where he interprets French impressionism with Ravel and Debussy is great.

What did Norchestra do in 2008?
The year 2008 is coming to and end, and we thought now to quickly sum up for you what we achieved during this year:
- We signed a record deal with Karl Seglem's label NorCD
- We released our debut record in February 2008 followed by a release tour all over Norway
- We got amazing and stunning reviews about our debutalbum "Norchestra" from norwegian and international press
- We played 5 important gigs in 3 nice festivals this summer: Britannia Hall at Olavsfestdagene festival in Trondheim, Festiviteten Concert Hall at Sildajazz festival, and at the opening and closing ceremony for the Norwegian Film Festival where we performed a comissioned piece composed by Alf Wilhelm Lundberg. This was before the opening film and world-premiere of the great movie "Den siste revejakta".
- We signed a deal with German manager Birgit Kramper's Kulturkollektion, hopefully this will result in some tours and many concerts in Germany during 2009
- Last but not the least, we rehearsed and prepared a lot of new compositions that we plan to record during 2009 for our second album.
We'll playing some concerts during vinterjazz 2009 in Norway, and we're preparing our first tour abroad this spring. For updates and concert schedule, remember to check out these links:

Norchestra signs contract with German manager Birgit Krampers "Kulturkollektion"
Birgit Kramper is a German manager for german and international artists, and she came to the festival "Kulturnatt" in Norway to see a perfomance with Norchestra in October. We agreed to sign a 1 year contract with her as a manager in Germany exlusively for us in 2009. Hopefully this will result in some tours during 2009 in Germany.
